Cromanion

Setting up Cromanion with HubSpot

What the integration does

Cromanion watches a visitor's session as it happens and intervenes when it can help them convert. This integration connects that work to HubSpot in two directions, both optional and independent. First, Cromanion recognises a HubSpot embedded form submit on your site, so a lead you capture through HubSpot can be measured as a conversion. Second, when Cromanion captures a lead itself — an email from a visitor it convinced to follow up before leaving — it can deliver that lead straight into your HubSpot contacts instead of a webhook.

Cromanion never writes its own results into HubSpot. The causal proof of whether the agent helped lands in the analytics you already use (GA4, Plausible), because a vendor grading its own homework inside your CRM is not proof.

Install the app

The integration is installed from the Cromanion side: you connect HubSpot to an existing Cromanion account. If you do not have one yet, create it first — the connection is stored against your account, not against a single website.

  1. Create your Cromanion account at cromanion.com and add your website. Cromanion crawls it to learn your funnel.
  2. Install the Cromanion tag on your site (one script tag, or the WordPress / Shopify / Wix app).
  3. Open your site's console and go to the Account screen.
  4. Click Connect HubSpot.

The HubSpot connection is optional. Recognising a HubSpot form submit on your own pages is done by the tag in the visitor's browser and needs no HubSpot account, no OAuth and no scopes at all.

Connect your HubSpot account

Clicking Connect HubSpot sends you to HubSpot's own consent screen, where you choose which portal to connect and review what the app is asking for. Cromanion never sees your HubSpot password; it receives a token from HubSpot after you approve, and that token is stored server-side and never sent to a browser.

  1. On HubSpot's screen, choose the account (portal) you want to connect.
  2. Review the requested scopes — they are listed in full below, each with what it is used for.
  3. Click Connect app.
  4. You are returned to your Cromanion Account screen, which now shows the connected portal id.

Configure the integration

Two things are worth setting after connecting, and neither happens on its own. Nothing is written to HubSpot until you choose it.

  1. To measure HubSpot form submits: submit the form once yourself, then open the console's goals section. Cromanion proposes the form it saw as a conversion goal candidate. Validate it, and every later submit of that form counts as a conversion.
  2. To send captured leads to HubSpot: open the AI-Tools screen, find the lead destination setting, and select your connected HubSpot portal instead of a webhook URL.

A form Cromanion has seen but you have not validated is never counted. This is deliberate: what counts as a conversion is your definition, and a newsletter unsubscribe, a search box and a support form are all form submits.

Use the integration

After setup, the integration runs without any manual step. Validated HubSpot form submits are counted as conversions on the sessions where they happen, and appear in your console's impact reporting alongside every other goal. Leads Cromanion captures are delivered to your HubSpot contacts within seconds of capture, created by email or updated if that email already exists in your portal.

A captured lead's email is passed through to your HubSpot and never stored by Cromanion. If the delivery fails, the visitor never sees an error — they were already thanked — and the failure is logged on our side.

Disconnect your HubSpot account

You can disconnect at any time from the same Account screen where you connected. Disconnecting deletes the stored tokens and the portal id from Cromanion immediately.

  1. Open your site's console and go to the Account screen.
  2. In the HubSpot section, click Disconnect.

After disconnecting, leads Cromanion captures are no longer delivered to HubSpot — set a webhook destination instead, or lead capture will stop being offered. Contacts already in HubSpot are untouched, and conversions already recorded in Cromanion stay recorded. Recognising HubSpot form submits on your site continues to work, because that never depended on the connection.

Uninstall the app from HubSpot

Uninstalling from HubSpot's side revokes the tokens at the source. Do this from your HubSpot account rather than from Cromanion if you want the access removed regardless of what Cromanion does with it.

  1. In HubSpot, go to Settings → Integrations → Connected Apps.
  2. Find Cromanion and click Uninstall.

Consequences are the same as disconnecting, from the other direction: lead delivery to HubSpot stops, no HubSpot data is deleted, and no Cromanion data is deleted. Cromanion's stored token becomes invalid; the next delivery attempt fails, is logged, and is not retried against your portal.

What each permission is used for

HubSpot shows you these on the consent screen. Each one is requested because something in the integration needs it — there are no permissions held in reserve for a future feature.

Cromanion does not request access to your deals, tickets, files, or marketing email, and does not read your contact list. See the privacy policy for what is stored and for how long.
